Sydney's Best Vegan Restaurants

We’re here to help with your New Year’s resolution of keeping fit and healthy in 2018. If you’ve decided to take the leap and give up meat and dairy (good for you!) don’t worry, more and more vegan places are popping up all over Sydney making it easier than ever. We’ve rounded up Sydney’s most delicious vegan restaurants – who said being healthy has to taste bland?

Bodhi in the Park

If you love yum cha, get yourself to Bodhi in the Park. Located behind St Mary’s Cathedral, these guys are serving up all your favourites, from sweet Japanese pumpkin dumplings to vegetable curry puffs. And the best thing? You don’t need to worry at all about what to order as the entire menu is vegan!

Govinda’s Restaurant & Movie Room

A short walk from Kings Cross Station, Govinda’s is the place to visit for a delicious vegetarian buffet followed by the latest flick in the world’s most comfortable cinema. The buffet includes plenty of vegan dishes, just ask the staff to point them out to you. Upstairs in the movie room, you’re able to lay down (yes you read that right!) on the plush mattresses and enjoy the movie while your full belly digests.

Surry Hills

For a tapas style feast, you can’t go past Yulli’s on Crown Street. Perfect for a catch up with a group of friends, we highly recommend ordering the Kale & Salt Bush Gyoza and the Zucchini Flowers filled with Beetroot & Truffle Oil Cream. The food is so tasty you won’t even notice that you’re eating vegan food.

Gigi Pizzeria

We’ve got fantastic news! You don’t have to give up your love of pizza by being vegan! Gigi Pizzeria in Newtown is going against all the naysayers and creating incredible discs of soft dough lathered in a rich tomato sauce and topped with grilled eggplant and cherry tomatoes, then bathed in basil salsa and extra virgin olive oil. You’re welcome.

The Green Lion

When you’re craving an epic pub feed, it’s time to head to Australia’s first plant based pub – The Green Lion. Go for the Brown Rice Buddha Burger which contains brown rice, black beans, quinoa seeds, beetroot and pickled cucumber with hummus. Wash that delicious goodness down with an ice cold beer – beer is vegan right?

Potts Point

Yellow is Sydney’s go-to for a fine dining vegetarian experience. The completely vegetarian menu heroes’ super simple ingredients, bringing them together to create an explosion of flavour. We recommend going for the vegan 5-course or 7-course degustation menu with matching wines. It’s an experience that will have you coming back for sure.
