DARWIN: Earlier this month homegrown hospitality brand, Adina hotels, delivered a dose of community spirit to the Northern Territory with the launch of Darwin’s inaugural Adina Community Clinic at the MWT Hockey Centre.
As the official accommodation partner of Hockey Australia, Adina continues to invest in grassroots initiatives that inspire the next generation of athletes. The Darwin clinic welcomed more than 200 local children and their families, offering a rare opportunity to train alongside some of the nation’s top hockey talent.
Led by elite players from the Hockeyroos, Kookaburras, Territory Stingers - and featuring recently retired Hockeyroo legend Brooke Peris - the free clinic delivered a day of hands-on drills, autograph sessions, and photo opportunities - designed to ignite passion for the sport and foster community connection.
It’s an initiative that Hockey Australia CEO, David Pryles says is vital for the longevity of hockey in Australia.
“Adina hotel’s support, at both the grassroots and elite level of our sport, continues to be incredibly valuable. When you see the kids’ faces light up at an Adina Community Clinic, you see the true value of their support,” Pryles said.
Adina’s Community Hockey Clinics were first launched at Melbourne’s Brunswick Hockey Club in 2023 as a way to connect kids with their favourite hockey heroes. Clinics have since been staged in Western Australia as part of the Perth International Festival of Hockey; and in Melbourne and Sydney, with the next destination to be announced in the coming months.
“Adina is deeply committed to supporting grassroots hockey across Australia,” said Brett Skinner, General Manager of Adina Darwin Waterfront. “These clinics are about more than sport - they’re about creating inclusive, memorable experiences that bring communities together and inspire future champions.”
“Our three-year partnership with Hockey Australia is a reflection of TFE Hotels’ long-term commitment to community building,” Skinner said. “And our Adina Community Clinics are a powerful way to connect with families, showcase our brand values, and support the growth of hockey from the grassroots up.”
Adina is also the official partner of Hockey Australia’s suite of National Hockey Championships including U14, U16, U18, U21, the Indoor Championships, Country Championships and Masters Championships.
This year, the Adina Community Clinic also coincided with the return of international hockey to the Top End for the first time in eight years. The Kookaburras wrapped up their 2025 Oceania Cup campaign in emphatic fashion, overturning an early deficit to beat New Zealand 4–1 in Darwin and secure a 3–0 series sweep — extending their unbeaten record in the competition since its inception in 1999.
Ends.
