Adina Chermside: This new Brisbane hotel stay is designed to feel like home

BRISBANE: A new way to stay in Brisbane’s north has arrived, with the 148-key Adina Chermside Brisbane now officially open.  Created for travellers who value space, comfort and connection, the 148-key apartment hotel brings Adina’s signature “home away from home” experience to one of Brisbane’s fastest-growing lifestyle precincts. Located in the heart of Chermside, the hotel is just moments from Westfield Chermside, close to leading hospitals, and an easy drive to Brisbane Airport, the Brisbane Entertainment Centre at Boondall and the city.

Designed by award-winning WMK Architecture, Adina Chermside is a calm, light-filled retreat crafted to reflect Brisbane’s subtropical climate and meet the needs of the evolving northern corridor. Guests can select from a mix of studio rooms, and one-bedroom apartments with kitchen and laundry facilities - ideal for short stays, extended visits, families, and anyone wanting a little more room to live while travelling. The hotel also offers access to an all-day café and bar, gym, meeting spaces, and undercover parking.

Contemporary screening elements define the building’s exterior, with expansive windows capturing sweeping suburban outlooks and distant views towards the Brisbane skyline, while greenery woven throughout the podium and façade softens the built form and strengthens the hotel’s connection to its surroundings.

Inspired by the natural character of nearby Chermside Hills Reserve, the interiors also feature soft, nature-inspired tones, complete with generous glazing, operable windows and layered textures designed to create a calm and restorative atmosphere.

“The interior experience was about creating a sense of retreat within an urban setting,” explains WMK Architecture Practice Director, David Percival. ““Now that the hotel is open, you can see how the continuity of materials and the softness of the palette help establish a genuine ‘home away from home’ for a wide range of guests.”

Shared spaces flow seamlessly from the lobby lounge and café/bar through to meeting areas and accommodation levels, reinforcing a sense of comfort, familiarity, and ease throughout the guest experience.

The hotel also features a curated collection of works from local photographer and filmmaker Sam Thies’ coffee table book BUSH, bringing a powerful sense of Australian identity, connection, and nostalgia throughout the property.

The photography collection reflects regional and outback Queensland landscapes and communities, creating a familiar and grounding experience for guests travelling to Brisbane’s north from regional areas across the state. Described by Thies as “a socio-cultural study of those who maintain a strong sense of community connection, mutual respect and shared purpose,” the series explores the resilience, character, and quiet evolution of rural Australia.

Connection to community is something that resonates with TFE Hotel’s homegrown Adina brand, and for Adina Chermside General Manager Sue Rowe, Thies’ imagery carries a deeply personal connection. Her Grandfather and father grew up on a cattle station called Diamond Downs in outback Queensland, so those images aren’t just scenery to her - they are memory triggers.

Rowe says the photographs remind her of “the smell of dust after rain, the hum of cicadas, and the long roads home,” a feeling she believes reflects the Adina philosophy of comfort, familiarity, and connection.

So, when she walks through Adina Chermside and sees Sam Thies’ bushland photography lining the walls, she feels that same quiet nostalgia. It’s a reminder that no matter how far you travel, there’s a piece of Australia that travels with you.

“Adina Chermside isn’t just opening its doors; it’s opening a space where travellers can breathe out, settle in, and feel held by something recognisably their own,” she said. “For many guests, particularly those visiting nearby hospitals or staying for extended periods, those familiar Australian landscapes create an immediate sense of calm and belonging.”

SHOP, STAY PLAY OPENING OFFER: To celebrate the opening, Adina Chermside is offering a special Shop, Stay and Play opening package designed for weekend escapes, visiting friends and family, medical stays, or longer Brisbane breaks where comfort and flexibility matter.

EDITORS’ NOTE:
BUSH is a social, cultural, and photographic study of communities that maintain a strong sense of connection, mutual respect, and shared purpose. Led by photographer and filmmaker Sam Thies, the BUSH project journeyed through outback Queensland in 2020 - a year like no other - to document the stories of people and places shaped over generations by the challenges of a harsh environment. The project has culminated in a large-format coffee table book, BUSH, which captures and preserves the portraits and stories of outback Queenslanders during 2020.  For more information visit www.samthies.com
