The Calile named #83 in The World's 50 Best Hotels 2026 Extended List

BRISBANE: For the fourth year in a row The Calile Hotel has been globally recognised by the World’s 50 Best Hotels – this year being named No.83 in the extended 51-100 revealed today by 50 Best.  Its inclusion in the 2026 list makes it the only hotel in the Oceania region to have been named every year since the award’s inception in 2023.

"Being named among the world's best hotels for a fourth consecutive year means a great deal to all of us and is a testament to the commitment of our staff and loyal guests", said The Calile Hotel General Manager, Chris Kemlo. "It reflects the dedication and quiet consistency of our team, and our care for every guest, every day, that continues to define The Calile experience. We're grateful for this recognition and humbled to again represent Queensland hospitality on the global stage."

Co-owner of The Calile Hotel Catherine Malouf also reflects on the role of community and identity - “From the outset, our ambition was to create an urban retreat that felt modern and cosmopolitan, but importantly, innately Brisbane. We didn't start by asking what a luxury hotel should look like, we asked what a great hotel in Brisbane should feel like. That meant responding to the way people live here and ensuring that they are central to the experience.”

Since opening in 2018 The Calile continues to be recognised world-wide for its thoughtful sub-tropical design that embraces climate, providing a unique urban experience beyond that expected of a five-star hotel. Cementing itself as a destination hotel - The Calile continues to partner with arts organisations and its retail neighbours to create cultural experiences for its guests and community, turning the hotel into a civic space for like-minded individuals to come together to connect and learn.

The World’s 50 Best Hotels extended 51-100 list was curated by The World’s 50 Best Hotels Academy - a global panel of more than 800 independent experts, each selected for their insight into the international hotel landscape.

Following its introduction in 2025, the second edition of this extended list features fifty more industry-defining hotels from six continents; this year the voting window has been extended to three years, enabling consideration of more hotels; those that voters may not visit so frequently but remain memorable.

Faye Huggett, Director of Community for The World’s 50 Best Hotels, says: “The 51–100 list recognises fifty more exceptional hotels that represent the very best of global hospitality. This extended list broadens the spotlight to a remarkable community of properties and the passionate people who bring them to life - each one defining what great hospitality means today. Every hotel here has earned its place through our expert Academy’s votes, and we hope their achievements will go on to inspire future travels.”

The awarded establishments will be recognised at the fourth edition of The World’s 50 Best Hotels awards ceremony in Paris on 15 September at Les Salles du Carrousel. It’s a pivotal date in the global travel and hospitality calendar that will inspire consumers, travellers and hoteliers around the globe.

Ends.
