AUCKLAND: An incredibly moving moment for an exceptional hotel. Earlier this month local Iwi, Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei, blessed The Hotel Britomart ahead of our 1 October opening.
Before dawn, invited guests and team members gathered beside Chris Bailey’s artwork Pou Tū Te Rangi in the courtyard linking Te Ara Tāhuhu and Galway Street, then passed through the hotel in small groups to bless each of its spaces. Members of our hotel team joined in the Karakia incantations, which are traditionally used to increase spiritual goodwill.
On behalf of Hotel Manager, Clinton Falrley and the team, we give our thanks to Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei for honouring us with this ceremony.
