Travelodge Wellington Officially Open

Deputy Mayor Welcomes New Hotel to Capital City Travelodge Wellington was officially welcomed to the capital city on Thursday 20 August by Deputy Mayor of Wellington Ian McKinnon.

Mr. McKinnon declared the newly refurbished hotel officially open at a function attended by more than 100 guests including hotel owners Toga Hospitality and Eureka Funds Management, local business representatives, tourism industry leaders and media.

“Travelodge Wellington is our second hotel in New Zealand - with a sister property in Palmerston North – and we are very proud to open for business after an extensive refurbishment. We are looking forward to offering both business and leisure visitors to Wellington a fresh and modern place to stay and do business in a very central location,” says Rachel Argaman, CEO, Toga Hospitality.

“The opening of Travelodge Wellington signifies Toga Hospitality’s ongoing commitment to the New Zealand market, one we are planning to expand further over the coming years.”

In line with the revitalised Travelodge brand in both New Zealand and Australia, the style of Travelodge Wellington is fresh and modern with an emphasis on delivering comfortable hotel accommodation, complete with up-to-date technology.

The hotel reopened in June this year following an NZ$11 million total refurbishment and the transformation makes the property one of the best 3.5 to 4 star hotels in the city.

The 132 accommodation rooms have been completely revamped, from light fittings to security cards and new LCD televisions. The conference rooms have also been given a face lift, making the hotel the ideal venue for small to medium sized conferences for up to 100 delegates. The hotel’s foyer has been transformed, and Steps Restaurant now has fresh, modern décor and an enticing new menu.

Travelodge Wellington is in a prime location in the centre of Wellington’s financial and shopping hub, yet close to key attractions such as Wellington Zoo, the Wellington Cable Car and Te Papa Museum of New Zealand, it is also only a five minute walk from the harbour.
