Top Aussie Beaches To Visit

Given there are 10,685 beaches in Australia, choosing our top 10 is a difficult task. Nevertheless, we managed to pull through, here's our top 10 Aussie beaches to visit this upcoming long weekend.

10. Jan Juc, Torquay, VIC

An easy hour and half drive from Melbourne you’ll find this gem of a beach, lined by spectacular cliffs and pumping out consistently good waves. The break here isn’t quite as big as neighbouring Bells Beach, making it ideal for those with an intermediate level of skill on a board.

9. Maslin Beach, Adelaide, SA

If you like your swims au naturel, Maslin Beach is a must-visit. As well as being the first beach to gain legal nude status in Australia, it’s incredibly picturesque thanks to the limestone cliffs that wrap around its sandy shores. If you’re game, pop along to the Nude Olympics, held here every January.

8. Brighton Beach, Melbourne, VIC

Famous for its row of 82 colourful bathing boxes, Brighton Beach is also a great spot for a swim on a warm summer’s day. While windy weather sends swimmers into the protected Middle Brighton Sea Baths, it creates the perfect conditions for windsurfers and kitesurfers. Why not test out your skills?

7. Caves Beach, Newcastle, NSW

This stunning stretch of sand has a network of grottos at its southern end that are perfect for exploring at low tide. If you’re not claustrophobic, crawl through the tunnel to explore the beautiful rock pools on the other side of the caves, rewarding yourself with a refreshing dip after your hard work.

6. Second Valley Beach, Fleurieu Peninsula, SA

Just over an hour’s drive from Adelaide sits this spectacular, otherworldly beach. Surrounded by rugged rocks, windswept cliffs and an ever-popular fishing jetty, it’s the perfect place to unwind and lose track of time.

5. Turquoise Bay, Coral Coast WA

Tucked away in one of the most isolated corners of Australia, a 2-hour flight or 12-hour drive from Perth, Turquoise Bay is smack-in-your-face beautiful. In addition to the empty white sand and crystal-clear water, Ningaloo Reef sits just 50 metres offshore, housing colourful coral, giant turtles, tropical fish and whale sharks (which, despite their name, pose no threat to humans).

4. Burleigh Heads, Gold Coast, QLD

We think this is the best patch of sand on the famous Gold Coast strip thanks to its ‘away from it all’ vibes and excellent surfing conditions. Adding to its appeal, the beach is surrounded by a national park, filled with wildlife, walking trails and – in winter – perfect spots for whale watching.

Just a 20 minute drive away is Vibe Hotel Gold Coast, the ultimate retreat in the heart of Surfers Paradise after a long lazy beach day.

3. Wineglass Bay, Freycinet National Park, TAS

It’s hard to forget this place once you’ve seen it; that trademark crescent of white sand stretching between the turquoise ocean and lush green bushland. Gloriously, thanks to the two-hour trek it takes to reach it, it’s not uncommon to get the beach all to yourself for a portion of your visit.

And when you make your way back to Hobart, stay at the contemporary Vibe Hotel Hobart embracing Tasmania's natural beauty and the city's colonial history.

2. Gordon’s Bay, Sydney, NSW

Tucked into the cove between Coogee and Clovelly, Gordon’s Bay gives strong Mediterranean vibes with its rocky shore, aquamarine waters and charming collection of fishing boats. It’s perfect for snorkelling and even has an underwater nature trail.

1. Bondi Beach, Sydney, NSW

Home to the world’s first Surf Life Saving Club and pivotal in paving the way for bikinis to become accepted swimming attire (thanks to a series of protests in the 1900s), Bondi isn’t just a pretty face. Nevertheless, it’s the beach’s appearance rather than its history which draws crowds today. Walk along the coastal path from Bronte so you can soak in the view over Icebergs’ famous pool on the way in.

Adina Apartment Hotels across Australia are equipped with everything you need for an extended beach holiday, like kitchen and laundry facilities. With a choice of one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments, they are spacious and conveniently located near cafés, restaurants, shops, and entertainment.
